The University of North Carolina Center for Public Television (UNC-TV), headquartered in Research Triangle Park, NC, and a division of UNC General Administration (UNC System Office) seeks a community-focused, team-driven strategic thinker and leader for its Senior Director/Chief Content Officer position. The Senior Director/Chief Content Officer will report to UNC-TV’s Executive Director & General Manager and will be responsible for ensuring that UNC-TV’s four services have the content needed to make them strong, viable, and relevant content distribution services across multi-platforms for North Carolina viewers, UNC-TV members, and other stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be a strong communicator, have a passion for media and provide thoughtful leadership and vision working closely with the content directors and their teams, which includes Programming, Production Services, National Productions & Original Content for Lifestyle, Science/Innovation, Arts, Public Affairs & Civic Engagement, Children’s Media and Educational Services, and Online Learning. The Senior Director/Chief Content Officer is a key member of the senior management team, which sets the priorities and strategy for UNC-TV.

|Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit||
The UNC Center for Public Television functions to provide research, development, and production of noncommercial educational content and program materials and to provide distribution of noncommercial television programming through the broadcast facilities licensed to the University of North Carolina; otherwise to enhance the uses of television for public purposes.
Primary Purpose of the Content Division is to create educational content and engaging storytelling across multi-platforms to support the mission of UNC-TV and serve the people of North Carolina and beyond.

Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, management, public relations, production, filmmaking, or related fields required. Advanced degree in management important. Eight to ten years of experience as a respected creator of content and leader in a media organization with multi-platform content is required. Experience with creating compelling messages for different target demographics and a proven track record of community engagement and partnership development is required. Expertise in all major business software applications (Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, etc.) and HR-related experience including hiring, managing, and performance reviews is required. Audience development and creating brand strategy experience is essential.
This individual should be an expert in all things related to content and channel optimization, brand consistency, segmentation and localization, analytics, and meaningful measurement.
• Ability to lead and inspire teams of diverse, creative personnel and content creators to achieve UNC-TV’s stated goals.
