The University of North Carolina Center for Public Television (UNC-TV) headquartered in RTP, North Carolina, is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and dynamic Senior Executive Assistant and Board Liaison to assistant the Executive Director & General Manager (GM) of UNC-TV and its’ Board of Trustees and the Foundation’s Board of Directors. This position supports the day-to-day operations of the General Manager’s Office which includes scheduling/emailing in Microsoft Outlook, coordinating travel arrangements, processing reimbursements, and other administrative details necessary for the GM to perform his duties. This position is also responsible for organizing the quarterly meetings of the Boards and maintaining the communications and official public records. The successful candidate will have integrity, exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills, and is able to juggle various priorities with tight deadlines in a respectful and pleasant manner.

Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit

The UNC Center for Public Television functions to provide research, development, and production of noncommercial educational content and program materials and to provide distribution of noncommercial television programming through the broadcast facilities licensed to the University of North Carolina; and otherwise to enhance the uses of television for public purposes.

SPA Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school and three years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or graduation of a two-year secretarial science or business administration program and one year of experience as described above; or graduation from a four-year college or university, preferably with major emphasis on Business administration or a related field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Prefer a Bachelor’s degree and 7 to 10 years or greater of demonstrated experience working as an executive assistant to a chief executive officer or very senior executive in a large, complex institutional or non-profit setting.

Routinely coordinates and facilitates solutions with internal and external organizations and constituents. Ability to adapt and respond quickly to new and time sensitive requests.

    Prevents scheduling conflicts or anticipates and resolves conflicts, competing with senior administrator’s schedule and/or priorities. Plans and organizes conferences, retreats, and/or annual events for administrator. Ability to manage long-term projects. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.   • Written Communication
    Independently researches, develops, and composes presentation materials and speeches for the administrator in a variety of settings. Anticipate administrator’s needs to initiate written communication for administrators review. Edit documents developed from outside sources to incorporate the administrator’s personal style. Ability to engage in research, writing, and editing with only limited guidance. Requires excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Information/Records Administration
    Independently researches, analyzes, and make recommendations regarding a variety of information from internal and external sources.
  • Budgeting
    In conjunction with the administrator, advises subordinate units on fiscal matters such as budget planning, budget analysis, and funding sources. Manages the overall budget for the administrator by reporting expenditures and allocation of funds and sources on a regular basis.
